Just drinks: before, after or instead of dinner.
If you know our restaurant, you're aware of the quite spectacular (as so many have said, and we certainly agree) view afforded of the Currituck Sound from our windows and back lawn. Sunset watching here is legendary no matter what time of year it is. While we've offered Adirondack chairs at the water's edge and a back porch for a long time, a few years back we decided to take full advantage of this asset and build a bar space. Enter, the backBAR. This mostly outdoor space (explanation coming) is filled with diners waiting for tables and folks who enjoy the laid-back bar scene under a starry sky even if they're not eating with us that evening. In fact, it's become one of the post popular bars found in Duck restaurants, and you can expect to see plenty of your friends if you're local and make plenty of them if you're visiting. The space is open to the evening breezes, which makes it comfortable even on hot summer nights, but it also has sides that can be lowered if the weather requires. And, because the structure is large, the back part can even be rented for special occasions.
The backBAR only closes for the winter since our shoulder seasons of spring and fall usually provide some of the Outer Banks' most favorable weather. And here's a word of advice: Before you make your dinner reservation, check out the time that the sun will set and make your reservation for after (which also tells you to make your reservation as far in advance as possible to request that time). Watching that red glow sink below the horizon is an experience locals have at the top of their daily events, and you won't want to miss it.
